Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker
Our 1st piece of original art
April 14, 2008

Since moving into the new house, I have been on the hunt for a painting to put over our mantle. I wasn’t necessarily looking for an orignial piece- just something that included the right colors, was the right size…and something that BOTH Tim and I would like. I have looked everywhere and could find nothing that would meet all three criteria. Then I stumblied upon the website of Tim Gagnon, a painter who lives in Maine. He paints almost every day and then posts his painting for sale on e-bay. If you buy one of the paintings that he has posted on ebay- they are an amazing deal! Especially for orignial works! Becaue I had issues with colors, size, etc. I commissioned a piece from him. I asked him for a painting that included one large tree with red leaves, and a silloutte of Mt. Katahdin in the background. (In 1998- Tim thru-hiked the Appachian Trail- over 2000 miles and Mt. Katahdin is the final peak of the trail). From start to finish, I had the painting hanging on my wall in less than 3 weeks. Tim and I love it! So if you are looking for a landscape painting- I highly recommend the artisit Tim Gagnon. He was very easy to work with and has an amazing talent.
Also, FYI- Tim is planning to build a frame for our new painting. Of course if you know Tim- that means it will take at least 6 months beofer the will happen. In the meantime- I hung the painting unframed.

  3. That looks really great! It goes nicely over the fireplace. My mom climbed Mt. Katahdin this past summer, it kicked her butt but she did it!

  8. That is awesome! My husband did something similar, whenever someone we knew got a new place he would ask them for ideas about their decor and then paint for them. All of our friends have his paintings somewhere in their houses :)
